Viola Mihm

Viola Mihm, 73, of St. Lucas, died of cancer Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas. The Rev. Raphael Ludwig was the celebrant with the Rev. Msgr. Leander Reicks as concelebrant.

Lectors were Martha Mihm and Jerry Mihm. Cross bearer was Cindy Coakley. Altar servers were Clarence Kuennen and Lee Stammeyer.

Eucharistic minister was Virginia Manderfield. Ushers were Joe Steinlage and Arnold Luzum.

The placing of the pall was by Viola's sons Harold, Ron, Marvin and Randy Mihm. The presentation of gifts was made by daughters Marilyn Coakley and Peggy Schneden.

The music ministry was provided by Lorraine Kuerinen, organist, and the St. Luke's adult choir.

Casket bearers and honorary bearers were Viola's grandchildren and greatgrandchild.

Burial was at the church cemetery. The Chekal Funeral Home of Fort Atkinson handled arrangements.

Viola (Ameling) Mihm was born June 10, 1925, in rural Fort Atkinson, the daughter of John and Martha (Kruse) Ameling.

She attended St. Luke's School. She was married to Cletus Mihm May 8, 1945, in St. Lucas.

She farmed with her husband in Fayette County. Her hobbies included making quilts, playing cards and visiting her family and friends.

Viola was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Cletus of St. Lucas; and sons and daughters and their families: Harold and Georgia Mihm of Bettendorf, Matt, Martha and Mary Jo; Marilyn and Bob Coakley of Dubuque, Michelle, Bill and Cindy; Ron Mihm of Rochester, his son, Marcus Mihm, and grandson, Jaymen Mihm; Jerry Mihm and Joie Lee, Melissa and Jeremy of Cresco; Marvin and Mary Mihm of Waverly, Marissa and Marshall; Randy and Bonnie Mihm of Dubuque, Bradley, Ben and Elizabeth; and Peggy and Bob Schneden of Davenport, and Blake and Hailey.

Other survivors include three sisters, Marcella Wurzer of Lawler, Arlene Huinker of Calmar and Bernice Einck of Waterloo; and three brothers, Clarence Ameling and Irvin Ameling, both of Fort Atkinson; and Felix Ameling of West Union.

Viola Mihm was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Alfred, Joe and Richard Ameling.
