Eloise Skoda
Eloise Skoda, 81, died Monday, May 28, 2001 at her home in Cresco.
Funeral services were held June 1 at 1 p.m. at Assumption Worship Center in Cresco, with Rev. Henry Charipar officiating.
Casket bearers were her grandsons Todd, Thad, Jason, Travis, Jeremy and Jamie Skoda.
Gifts were carried by Lindy, Molly, Jeff and Thomas Skoda.
Readers were Joe Skoda and Molly O'Rourke.
Mary Tremmel accompanied Pam Daley, who sang "Here I Am Lord," "O Gentle Woman," "One Day at a Time" and "How Great Thou Art."
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home of Cresco handled arrangements.
Eloise Skoda was born March 22, 1920 in Winneshiek County, south of Canton, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Mullaney) Knox. She attended rural school and graduated from Canton High School.
She was united in marriage to George Skoda May 4, 1946 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Plymouth Rock. They became the parents of five children.
Eloise Skoda worked for J.C. Penney for 15 years. She was also involved in the Legion Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Historical Society, the 20th Century Club, the Rosary Society and Teleconcern. She enjoyed sewing, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her four sons: Joseph Skoda and Melissa O'Rourke of Rock Valley, Iowa; James Skoda of Des Moines; Jerald and Linda Skoda of Decorah and John and Dar Skoda of Cresco; one daughter, Janice of Cresco; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Byron Knox of Cresco and one sister, Alice Casterton of Cresco.
Eloise Skoda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
