Robert Arthur Lomen
Robert A. Lomen, 78, of Waukon, and formerly of Decorah, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Decorah, with the Rev. James Dale officiating.
The body was cremated, with burial at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Robert Arthur Lomen was born March 9, 1921, in Decorah, the son of Arthur N. and Emma (Teske) Lomen. He attended Country School No. 7 in Frankville Township and graduated from Decorah High School.
On June 10, 1949, he married Inez McAllister in Decorah. They were later divorced.
He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the late 1930s and early 1940s in McGregor. He then worked in construction, as a well driller and as a taxi driver.
Robert had been a resident of the Northgate Care Center in Waukon since Sept. 14, 1993.
Survivors include his daughter, Brenda and Ron Carey of Westchester; one son, Robert B. and Cathy Lomen of Keota; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Dahlstrom of Waukon and Katherine Poen of Flagstaff, Ariz.
Robert A. Lomen was preceded in death by his parents.
