David P. Burreson

David P. Burreson, 59, of Solon, an engineer, died Jan. 11, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City of cancer.

Private services were held Jan. 13, at the Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City. A private interment will be held at Phelps Cemetery in the spring.

The Lensing Funeral Home handled arrangements, along with the French & Balik Funeral Home of Decorah.

David was born May 8, 1939, in Cresco, the son of Everett and Alma L. Burreson of Decorah. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1957 and the University of Iowa in 1967.

David was in the United States Navy from 1957-62, where he served as First Class Petty Officer (Airdale).

He was married to Barbara Lien Aug. 27, 1957, at Decorah Lutheran Church. They later divorced.

David was employed in Cedar Rapids at Collins, Norarid and other area companies. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hopkinton and served on the Church Council and other committees.

Survivors include one son, David Scott Burreson and wife Sonji of Ryan; two grandchildren, Michael L. Burreson and Jessica Burreson; his mother, Alma Burreson of Decorah; one brother, Jim Burreson of Decorah; nieces Dawn Burreson of Osage and Rachel Burreson of Decorah; nephew Matthew Burreson of Iowa City; and special friend and former wife, Barbara Burreson of Hopkinton.

David Burreson was preceded in death by his father, Everett Burreson, and a sister-in-law, Pamela A. Burreson, both of Decorah.
