Paul F. Tieskoetter

Paul F. Tieskoetter, 79, of Ossian, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

A funeral mass was held Monday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with the Rev. Richard Kuhn officiating.

Al Sensor was the organist. Special music was by Jamie Feuerbach, Jacyln Tieskoetter and Jill Tieskoetter. There also was congregational singing.

Offertory gifts were presented by Michael Tieskoetter, Heidi Schmitt, Melissa Schmitt, Angela Tieskoetter and Jennifer Jensen. Eucharistic ministers were Luke Tieskoetter, Paul Tieskoetter and Barb Tieskoetter.

Prayer leaders were Dawn Tieskoetter and Tracy Tieskoetter. Altar servers were Alicia Tieskoetter, Brandon Tieskoetter, Lance Tieskoetter and Scott Schmitt.

Casket bearers were Dan Langreck, Keith Langreck, Eric Tieskoetter, Bryan Tieskoetter, Aaron Tieskoetter, Shawn Schmitt, Matt Tieskoetter and John Tieskoetter.

In honorary attendance were members of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2073 of Ossian and the Davis Assembly Fourth Degree Knights.

Interment was at the St. Francis Cemetery in Ossian. The Schmitz Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Paul Fredrick Tieskoetter was born May 5, 1919, near Festina, the son of Bernard and Mary (Elsbernd) Tieskoetter. He attended the rural school near his home and returned to work on the farm.

On June 25, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marie Shindelar at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar.

They began farming near Castalia and 21 years ago moved to a farm northeast of Ossian.

Paul was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Davis Assembly Fourth Degree Knights. He was a former Grand Knight of the Ossian Council and a district deputy of the State Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Ossian Senior Hospice Board.

Paul enjoyed playing cards, fishing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; nine children, LouAnn and Anthony Langreck of Ossian, Gerald and Jeanne Tieskoetter of Raleigh, N.C., James and Sally Tieskoetter of Castalia, Luke and Judy Tieskoetter of Peosta, Leon and Sandi Tieskoetter of Castalia, Mark and Cathy Tieskoetter of Dubuque, Dale and Barb Tieskoetter of Farmersburg, Paul and Barb Tieskoetter of Rochester, Minn., and Jane and Ron Schmitt of Calmar.

Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, Dan and Keith Langreck; Russell, Ronald and Tina Tieskoetter; Jennifer Jensen; Jamie Feuerbach; Jaclyn, Jill and Lance Tieskoetter; John Tieskoetter; Bryan, Dawn, Aaron and Brandon Tieskoetter; Eric Tieskoetter; Tracy, Angela and Matthew Tieskoetter; Michael and Alicia Tieskoetter; and Shaun, Melissa, Scott and Heidi Schmitt; and two great-grandchildren, Jarrett and Noah Tieskoetter.

Other survivors include three sisters, Helen Hemesath of Decorah, Hedwig Hoffman of New Hampton and Agatha Hoffman of Ionia; and three brothers, Louis Tieskoetter, Frank Tieskoetter and Alphonse Tieskoetter, all of Ossian.

Paul Tieskoetter was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Francis; one brother, Joseph Tieskoetter; and a daughter-in-law, Lois Tieskoetter.
