Thomas Peter Heid

Thomas Peter Heid, 46, of Decorah, died suddenly Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. Joan Schissel was the cantor.

Casket bearers were Shafe Cole, Virgil Denk, John Heid, Jonathan Heid, Frank Lorenz and Arnold Weiss.

Burial was at the St. Benedict Cemetery. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Thomas was born Sept. 4, 1952, at Emmetsburg, the son of Paul and Sabina (Fall) Heid. He graduated in the North Winneshiek class of 1972.

Thomas farmed all his life in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County. Known as a good neighbor and a conscientious caregiver, Thomas was a quiet man with a good sense of humor.

He was a Civil War enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and following his favorite football teams, the Vikings and the Packers. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Survivors of Thomas Heid include his parents, Paul and Sabina Heid of Decorah; one brother, John and Carolyn Heid of Mt. Airy, Md.; a niece, Kathryn Quigley of Frostburg, Md.; and two nephews, Jonathan and Christopher Heid of Mt Airy, Md.
