Irene Beatrice Judith Vold

Irene Vold, 90, of Decorah, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah.

There is no visitation. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Haugen Home Chapel with Rev. Henrik Engebretson officiating.

Organist is Marcia Engebretson. Selected hymns include "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."

Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Fjelstul Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Beatrice Judith Kraby was born March 4, 1911 in Hesper, the daughter of John J. and Ida (Seim) Kraby.

She was baptized April 30, 1911 and confirmed May 12, 1926 at First Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools of Winneshiek County.

Irene Kraby married Walter Vold in Decorah in 1937. He died May 21, 1962.

Irene Vold worked at Decorah Laundry for 11 years and then was a cook at Luther College for 20 years. She enjoyed playing card games such as 500 and Euchre. Irene Vold had been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home since Nov. 1993.

Survivors include two nieces, Mae Gieske and lone Rud, both of Austin, Minn.

Irene Beatrice Judith Vold was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Vold; three brothers, Clarence, Arthur and Carl Kraby and one sister, Clarissa Tovson.
