Betty Erickson
Betty L. (Wiemerslage) Erickson, 70, of Decorah, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, June 27, 1999 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held today (Tuesday), after 10 a.m. at First Lutheran Church and funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the church. Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen will be officiating.
Pallbearers are Robert Dresselhaus, Lester Erickson Jr., Roger Erickson, Millard Vickery, Larry Wiemerslage and Gerald D. Young.
Rev. Marion Miller will be the organist. Miller will be the soloist for "Abide with Me" and the congregation will sing "How Great Thou Art" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand." Interment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery. Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Betty (Wiemerslage) Erickson was born August 28, 1928 at home in Union City Township in Allamakee County, the daughter of Louis and Frieda (Welper) Wiemerslage. She attended English Bench Rural School in Allamakee County.
Betty married Robert L. Erickson Jan. 14, 1947 in Eitzen, Minn. They lived in Marion for many years and Betty worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 23 1/2 years before retiring in 1983. The Ericksons moved to Decorah in 1995 and were members of First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, Leland and Evelyn Wiemerslage of Dorchester; a brother-in-law, George and Evelyn Dresselhaus of McGregor; three sisters-in-law, Violet Winger, Evelyn Hahn, and Alice Tollefson, all of Decorah; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Irma Dresselhaus and Norma Breeser, and a brother, Clarence Wiemerslage.
