Marian Buegel
Marian Buegel, 82, of Ossian, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah after complications of lung disease.
A memorial mass was held Friday, July 30, at noon, at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with the Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiating.
Michael Elsbernd was the organist/pianist. Musicians were Valerie D'Angelo, soprano; Sarah Voorhees, mezzo-soprano; Noel D'Angelo, tenor and the Rev. Paul Hasvold, bass.
Offertory gifts were received by the family. Readers were Dean Einck and Blaise D'Angelo.
Honorary bearers were Blaise D'Angelo, Noel D'Angelo, Claude Reindle, Luke D'Angelo, Daryl Dillon and Robert Wilson.
A rosary was held immediately prior to the mass. The Schmitz Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Marian Regina (McAnally) Buegel was born May 27, 1917, at Fort Dodge, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Harmon) McAnally. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith, also at Fort Dodge.
Marian attained her elementary education at Corpus Christi Catholic School and graduated from the Fort Dodge High School. She furthered her education in the medical technician field.
On Nov. 28, 1947, she was joined in marriage to Paul Eugene Buegel. They resided in Ames where Marian was employed at the Iowa State University Atomic Energy Commission and at the Mary Greeley Hospital. While residing there, she belonged to the ISU Faculty Wives Club and the Ames Garden Club.
In the summer of 1969 they moved to Ossian. Marian's main interests were in floriculture, lapidary, silversmithing and gardening.
She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and an honorary member of its Rosary Society and a Decorah Garden Club member.
Survivors include her husband, Paul of Ossian; one daughter, Valerie and Joseph D'Angelo of Arcadia, Calif.; three grandsons, Blaise and Diana D'Angelo and children Aiden and Zoe of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Luke and Cynthia D'Angelo and son Chase of Olivenhain, Calif., and Noel D'Angelo of Stanford, Calif.
Marian Buegel was preceded in death by her parents.
