Roman Frank Tieskotter

Roman Tieskotter, 74, of Decorah, died Wednesday Feb. 17, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rey. Gary Krapfl officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. Joan Schissel was the cantor.

Casket bearers were Gerald Tieskotter, Dennis Tieskotter, Donald Tieskotter, John Tieskotter, Brian Hageman and Andy Hageman.

Burial was at the church cemetery. The French and Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Roman was born June 29, 1924, in Festina, the son of John and Cecelia
(Schneberger) Tieskotter. He received his education in the parochial school at Festina.

He served in the United States Army from Nov. 6, 1945 through Nov. 6,
1946.

Roman was united in marriage with Regina Tillman Nov. 29, 1945, in St. Lucas. They farmed in these areas: St. Lucas, Fredericksburg, Waucoma, Little Turkey, Lawler, New Hampton and Decorah.

Roman then ran T & J Plumbing in Frankville. The couple retired to Decorah in 1974.

He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Roman also was a 50-year member of American Legion Post No. 279 in Lawler.

Survivors include two daughters Joanne Kutzbach of New Hampton and
Janet Graham of Gilman; two sons, James Tieskotter of Glendale, Ariz.,
and Melvin Tieskotter of Decorah; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Andrew Tieskotter of Lawler; and four sisters, Bernadette Kruse of Decorah, Elvira Tierney of Waterloo, Marion Knutson
of New Hampton and Leona Meissen of Lawler.

Roman Frank Tieskotter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Regina, who died Aug. 18; 1985; two sons, Marcellus in 1984 and Robert in 1988; and a brother, Wilfred.
