Lucille Duff
Lucille Hover Duff, 87, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and formerly of the Ridgeway and Decorah areas, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Idylwood Convalescent Hospital in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at the French & Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Officiating were the Rev. Phillip Olson and Associate in Ministry Ginny Olson.
Martha Olson was the organist. The Rev. Olson sang a solo, "How Great Thou Art." Other congregational hymns were "0 Come, 0 Come," "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "I Know of A Sleep."
Casket bearers were Dale Hover, David Hover, Ed Hover, Mark Hover, Randy Hover, Roger Kratz and Gary Sovereign.
Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.
Lucille was born May 29, 1911, in Canoe Township of Winneshiek County, the daughter of Edward and Lizzie (Thorson) Hover. She was baptized at Big Canoe Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Big Canoe May 17, 1925.
On May 29, 1930, Lucille graduated from Decorah High School. She worked at Interstate Power in Decorah, Dubuque and Oelwein until she moved to California.
In 1942, Lucille was united in marriage to Raymond Duff in California. To this union one son, Gary, was born.
Lucille was employed by Fingerhut from 1955-57 and by H. Wadell Record Co. from 1964-82.
Survivors include, her son, Gary and Barbara Duff of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two
grandchildren, Pamela Robertson and Brian Duff; and a sister-in-law, Norma Hover of Decorah.Lucille Duff was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, who died April 14, 1993; and her two brothers, Arnold and Maurice.
