A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Schmitz Funeral Home in Ossian from 8:30-10:30 a.m. before services Thursday.

Ivan Uhlenhake, 66, of Ossian, died Friday morning, Jan. 1, 1999 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., from cancer.
Funeral mass was held Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian with Rev. Richard Kuhn and Rev. Vincent Simon officiating. K. of C. rosary and scripture vigil were held Monday.
Al Sensor was the organist. Special music was provided by violinist Jennifer Lyon and soloist Joan Schissel. Other music included the St. Francis adult choir and congregational singing.
Prayer leaders were Russell Hemesath, Michael Schmitz and Jack Hemesath. Eurcharistic ministers were Evroul Beckman, Karen Hemesath, Lucy Hageman and Jeanne Lechtenberg. Offertory gift carriers were Justin Lyon, Jessica Lyon, Danielle Uhlenhake, Kelli Uhlenhake and Blake Uhlenhake.
Casket bearers were James Hawkins, Francis Hemesath, Ernest Heying, Dennis Huinker, James Lechtenberg, Edward Mikota, Urban Moser, Gerald Timp, Fredrick Scheidel and Mark Uhlenhake. The Knights of Columbus Council No. 2073 was in honorary attendance.
Ivan William Uhlenhake was born in rural Ossian, in Military Township, April 8, 1932, the son of William J. and Rose (Geling) Uhlenhake. He was baptized April 10, 1932 by the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. M. J. Thiltgen and was confirmed at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at Ossian by the late Bishop Francis Beckman on Oct. 14, 1942. He attended DeSales School.
Following high school graduation in May, 1950, Ivan began his farming career with his parents. On Sept. 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Schmitz at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church by the late Rev. E. J. Frost. They moved to the family farm in March 1956 where they raised their family of seven children. Until the time of his death, he was still residing on the "century-plus" family farm, which is located three miles southeast of Ossian.
Ivan was a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, its Rosary Society and was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2073. He held the office of K. of C. grand knight from 1974-1976.
He has served as president of the Winneshiek County Pork Producers, and was a board member of the Winneshiek County Dairy Council, the De Sales School, the Gunder Creamery and the advisory board of the Swiss Valley Milk Producers.
Recently he had been serving on the Ossian Senior Housing Board and was a member of the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau, the National and Iowa right-to-Life organizations, American Life League, the Association for Retarded Citizens and the Crazy Eight Card Club.
Ivan enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years and was a member of the De Sales High School team and the Ossian town team. He was an avid Hawkeye football/basketball fan.
Music was a "highlight" of his life as he was a member of the St. Francis adult choir since high school and was a former member of the Community Singers. He enjoyed the Big Band Sound for dancing and was a soloist for numerous weddings. He also enjoyed his family and grandchildren, dairy and hog farming, traveling, fishing and visiting.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, of Ossian; five sons, Kurt Uhlenhake and JoAnn Uhlenhake of Ossian; Lyne and Cindy Uhlenhake of Ossian; Jay and Margaret Uhlenhake of Lawler, Jeff Uhlenhake of Ossian; and Aric Uhlenhake of Cresco; and two daughters, Karla and Larry Lyon of Kenosha, Wis.; and Laurie and Tim Thompson of Singapore.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Justin and Jessica Lyon; Stacey, Kelli, Blake, Danielle and Jared Uhlenhake and Kisara Thompson; a sister, Esther (Moellers) and Glen Stuart of Muscatine; a brother-in-law, Kenneth and Jane Schmitz of Arkadelphia, AK; two sisters-in-law, Karen and Jack Hemesath of Castalia and Sharon Schmitz of Clinton; and 21 nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, William, on Jan. 9, 1956, his mother, Rose, on Feb. 18, 1990, and two brothers-in-law, Raphael Moellers on Jan. 8, 1966 and Karl Schmitz on Oct. 4, 1997.
