Cora A. Soberg, 90, of Mabel, Minn., and formerly of Hesper, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m., at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, with the Rev. Hans Floan officiating.
Burial was at the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Cora was born June 23, 1909, in Spring Grove, Minn., the daughter of Julius and Inga Rollie. She attended area country schools until moving to Minneapolis, Minn., with her parents.
On Feb. 4, 1930, she married Delvin C. Soberg in Minneapolis and to this union one daughter, Arlene, was born.
They farmed in the Mabel area until 1945 when they moved to Hesper. Cora worked at the Hesper Locker and at the Winneshiek County Courthouse in Decorah.
In April of 1996, she and Delvin moved to the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. Delvin died Dec. 10, 1998.
She was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Cora enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and Norway and Sweden.
Survivors include one daughter, Arlene and Robert Bacon of Brownsville, Minn.; two granddaughters, Rebecca Bacon of La Crosse, Wis., and Joan and Tim Morrall of Geneva, Illinois; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Morrall; one brother, Harold Rollie of Caledonia, Minn.; one sister, Margaret McKenna of Englewood, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Cora Soberg was preceded in death by her husband, Delvin; her parents; three sisters; one brother; three nephews; and one niece.
