Haugland, Patricia (Kimber) -- 1927 - 2001

Patricia Haugland, 73, formerly of Canton, Minn., died at her daughter's home near Waukon on Jan. 7, 2001.

Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13 at Henrytown Lutheran Church, rural Canton.

Burial will be in Burr Oak Cemetery, with Lindstrom Funeral Home of Harmony handling arrangements.

Patricia Haugland was born June 22, 1927 in Decorah, the daughter of Vincent and Mabel (Ackerson) Kimber. She graduated from high school and continued her education for another year.

She was united in marriage to Harry Haugland on Nov. 14, 1947. They farmed for a period of time, in North Dakota and then returned to farm south of Burr Oak in the early 1960's.

The couple then moved to Cresco and opened the Wheel Inn Cafe.

After leaving the Wheel Inn Cafe, Patricia Haugland worked as a teacher's aide in the Howard-Winneshiek Schools and as a secretary for HECO in Harmony, and then as a secretary-receptionist for Farm Credit Services in Lanesboro, Minn., retiring in 1989.

Patricia and Harry "Bud" Haugland lived in Canton for 30 years until his death on May 27, 1999.

In Sept. 1999 Patricia Haugland moved to senior citizen housing in Canton before moving to senior citizen housing in Decorah.

Surviving Patricia Haugland is a daughter, Sheri and Bob Erickson of Waukon and a son, Gerald and Karolyn Haugland of Thornton, Iowa, and six grandchildren.

Patricia Haugland was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Mabel Kimber, and by her husband, Harry Haugland.
