Audrey E. Lovlien, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m., at Burr Oak Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, with the Rev. Hans Floan, officiating.
Alan Sensor was the organist. The congregation sang "Rock of Ages," "Beautiful Savior" and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Dennis Quandahl, Rusty Emery, Rodney Emery, Rodney Ellingson, Bill Noecker and Wayne Nesheim.
Committal was at the Burr Oak Lutheran Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home of Decorah handled arrangements.
Suggested memorials may be made to Winneshiek County Hospice or to the Burr Oak Cemetery.
Audrey (Cassel) Lovlien was born Aug. 12, 1907, near Burr Oak, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Mclntire) Cassel. She attended Coldwater and Lost Nation schools near Bluffton.
She was married to Harold Lovlien Feb. 9, 1927, by the Rev. Glesne in
Decorah.Audrey farmed with her husband near Burr Oak from 1927-56. She also worked at the State Line Restaurant and at Luther College in the food service.
She moved to Decorah in 1988. Audrey enjoyed her flower and gardening, playing cards, needle working, quilting and visiting with her friends.
She was an active member of the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, where she was a charter member, and an active member of WELCA.
Survivors include one daughter, Delores and Merlin Emery of Mabel, Minn.; one granddaughter, Kathy and Rick Ellingson of Decorah; three grandsons, Dennis Quandahl of Waterloo, Rusty Emery of Decorah and Rodney and Melissa Emery of Waterloo; two great-grandchildren, Rodney Ellingson of Decorah and Gabrielle Emery of Waterloo; and one sister, Maxine Falck of Decorah.
Audrey Lovlien was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, who died in 1990; one brother, Sam Cassel; two sisters, Gladys Arnold and Bemice Halse; and one sister in infancy, Anna Cassel.
