Funeral services for Henry Limkemann were held Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at 1:30 p.m. in the Schutte Funeral home at Postville, IA. Pastor Reuben Grueneich, of the Center Baptist Church at rural Lansing, IA, officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia, IA.
Henry Limkemann, the son of William and Magdalena (Feickert) Limkemann, was born September 16, 1915, in Leola, South Dakota. He passed away Saturday morning, June 13, 1998, in North Gate Care Center at Waukon, IA. He had reached the age of 82 years, eight months and 27 days.
He attended the rural school near his home in Leola, SD and also in Missouri. On January 3, 1945 he was married to Ramona Perry. To this union four children were born. They lived in the St. Olaf and then the Monona area and then moved to a farm in Winneshiek County, north of Castalia, in 1949.
Henry was a farmer and then was employed for 18 years by the Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls, IA. Henry enjoyed woodworking which included making shelves, cupboards and doll cradles. He became a resident of the Northgate Care Center in Waukon on December 4, 1996.
He is survived by two sons, Burdette Limkemann of Waterloo, IA and David (Linda) Limkemann of Murietta, CA; a daughter, Lori Limkemann of Lansing, IA; one daughter, Krissi Limkemann; five brothers, Joseph (Zelma) Limkemann of Cedar Falls, John (Eunice) Limkemann of Marquette, David (Marian) Limkemann of Plainfield, August (Gladys) Limkemann of San Antonio, TX, and Paul (Ruth) Limkemann of Lakeland, FL; one sister, Rose (Warren) Barker of Waukon; two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Geneva) Perry of West Union and LaVern (Dorothy) Perry of Castalia; and a sister-in-law, Ivera Limkemann Leyh of Sumner.
Preceding Henry are his parents; his wife, Ramona, who died May 6, 1986; one son, Robert; two brothers, Daniel and Gottlieb "Shorty" Limkemann; three sisters, Clara Kohrs, Mary Perry and Bertha, who died in infancy.
Henry was a member of the Center Baptist Church, rural Lansing, IA.
Casket bearers were Leland Pearson, James Caya, Earl Stendel, Scott Stendel, Bill Walsh and Ray Barker.
