Clinton A. Yarwood, Sr. was born on July 15, 1936 at Frankville, Iowa, the son of Earl and Gertrude (Livingood) Yarwood. He died on Sunday, July 20, 1997, at Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 61 years and 5 days of age.

Clinton married the former Joanne Moen on April 11, 1954 at Decorah, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Dawn, Kim, Resa and Alan. He served in the U.S. Air Force. The family's favorite tour of duty while in the service was the 9½ years spent in Anchorage, Alaska, where the family camped, snowmobiled and hiked. Clinton loved the outdoors and shared his passion with his children.

He retired from the Air Force in 1974, and in 1976 began working for American Airlines as a Communications System Engineer, retiring from there in 1992.

After retirement he spent his days from 9-5 on the computer trading his stocks and watching all the business news. He enjoyed gardening and would share any extras with family and neighborhood friends. Clinton once said he was a terrible golfer, but he enjoyed playing golf with his friends in Oklahoma and Decorah.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; children: Dawn Malcolm of Broken Arrow, OK, Kim (Dennis) Knutson of Decorah, Resa Yarwood of Broken Arrow, and Alan (Pam) Yarwood of Broken Arrow; his sister, Joan Thomas of Elgin, IL; his brother, Glenn Yarwood of Pennsylvania, and his grandchildren: Justin and Kelly Casterton, Amber and Sarah Malcolm, and Brittany and Kelsey Yarwood.

Services were held at the First Lutheran Church, Decorah, at 11:00 a.m., July 29, 1997. Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiated. Casketbearers were Jim Gipp, John Gipp, Harvey Houck, Dennis Knutson, Donald Moen and Randy Woldum. Interment was in the Decorah, Iowa Lutheran Cemetery with full military rites performed by Helof-Holm V.F.W. Post No. 1977 and Bernatz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163. Fjelstul Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
