John William Finnegan, 69, a lifelong farmer of the Castalia vicinity, passed away Tuesday morning, September 20, 1966 of a heart condition. He had previously spent eight weeks in Smith Memorial Hospital, Decorah, returning to his home August 22.

Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, September 23, from the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, to St. Peter's Catholic church, Clermont, where a Requiem Mass was offered by Rev. Thomas Currier at 10:00 a.m. Burial was in the church cemetery.

John (Jack) William Finnegan was born January 14, 1897 in Fayette county, the son of Patrick R. and Mary Powers Finnegan.

On January 11, 1926, he was united in marriage with Helen Fitzpatrick, in St. Francis de Sales church, Ossian.

To their union were born: Jean, (Mrs. W. J. Schultz), Port Huron, Michigan; Michael, Castalia; and Marianne, (Mrs. G. W. Ironside), Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Surviving are his wife; three children; 16 grandchildren; and three sisters, all in Oakland, California.

Services were attended by board members of the ACCW, of which Mrs. Finnegan is an officer; also relatives and friends from Kenosha, Wisconsin; Port Huron, Michigan; Rochester, Minnesota; Waterloo, Cresco, Decorah, Ossian, Manchester, Coggon, Winthrop and Waukon.
