Mrs. Mary Fitzpatrick, 95, died Saturday, February 27, at the Decorah Retirement Center, where she had been cared for since June. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning, March 2, at St. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. V. J. Peters officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was buried on the 68th anniversary of her wedding. Attending the funeral in a body were six board members of the Ossian deanery, Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women of which, Mrs. J. Finnegan, a daughter of the deceased, is an officer.
As Mary Maher, she was born in Queens county, Ireland on November 1, 1869, the daughter of Edward and Bridget Maher. Her early years were spent in Ireland. In 1894 she migrated to Waterbury, Connecticut where she lived with a sister. Prior to leaving Ireland she was engaged to Michael Fitzpatrick, who came to the United States in 1891.
On March 2, 1897 she married Mr. Fitzpatrick. They became the parents of three children: Edward of Ossian, Helen (Mrs. J. W. Finnegan) of Castalia, and Raymond, deceased. Also surviving are four grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
