Margaret Elizabeth Kipp, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Warnholz) Schlee, was born April 17, 1911. She died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at the Stillhaven Health Care and Rehab Center, Sierra Vista, Ariz. She was 84 years old.

A former Ossian native, Margaret was baptized and confirmed in her faith. She received her elementary education in Frankville Rosie Country School and graduated from Postville High School where she earned a scholarship to a business college in Chilicothe, Mo. She was employed by the McManus family who lived southwest of Castalia, until her marriage to Lester William Kipp on August 12, 1931 at the Lutheran parsonage in Castalia, Iowa. Three children were born to their union.

Preceding her in death were her father, John in 1928; her mother, Elizabeth in 1944; her husband, Lester who died January 31, 1975; a son, Billy in 1994 and a son-in-law, Vaylord Schweinefus in 1988. Survivors include Mrs. Emmett (Betty) Helgerson of Bisbee, Ariz., Jeleen Schweinefus of Rock Springs, Wyo., seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Leonard Schlee of Decorah and Willard Schlee of Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, 1995 at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Ossian, with Rev. Wayne Ellingson officiating. Casketbearers were Wayne Schwinefus, John Schlee, Jimmy Schlee, Don Egeland, Harold Hammersland, Dennis Anfinson, Dean Anfinson, Loren Koenig and DuWayne Schweinefus. Schmitz Funeral Home of Ossian was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa.
