Services were held Saturday, Dec. 4, for Howard J. Kluss, 73, Monona, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Harold O. Ward officiated and burial was in the St. Paul cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge.
He died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1982 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.
Howard John Kluss, the son of George and Dahlia Landt Kluss was born May 17, 1909 in Fayette County. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville and confirmed at the Castalia Lutheran Church. He graduated from Postville high school in 1927 and taught rural schools in Winneshiek and Clayton counties for five years.
He was united in marriage with Myrtle Amundson of Clermont Sept. 29, 1935, and they are the parents of four daughters. From 1938 to 1968 he owned and operated the Maytag sales and service at Monona. He served on the Monona Fire Department for 10 years and was active in the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle, four daughters: Mrs. Don (Georgean) Roffman of Sioux City; Beverly Fuelling of Monona; Mrs. Michael (Mary) McGeough of Waterloo and Mrs. Lee (Charlotte) DeWitt of Cedar Rapids, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
