Rites Held For D. Kneeskern

Funeral services were held at the Frankville Community Church on Monday afternoon for Dennis Kneeskern, who died April 16 while stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. The Rev. Robert Reynolds, pastor of the church officiated at the services.

Military rites were held with American Legion and V. F. W. units participating. Two servicemen from Ft. Benning accompanied the body to Frankville.

Dennis Roger Kneeskern, son of Leo and Marie [Vollman] Kneeskern, was born October 3, 1942 at Frankville and died on April 16, 1961.

He attended Frankville and Postville public schools and graduated from Postville high school in 1960. After graduation he was employed at Jim and Frosty's Service Station and the Appleton Electric Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Dennis was a member of the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church. He enlisted in the Army Airborne and entered service on January 3, 1961. He was assigned to Company A. First Battalion Second Training Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After being home on leave from March 4 - 14, he was assigned to Company B, second Battle Group, 9th Infantry, Second Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia to continue his training. He died while stationed there.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Paul, in the service in Germany, and Michael of Postville; and two sisters, Joyce and Patricia at home.

Frankville Soldier Drowns In Creek

Dennis Kneeskern, 18, of Frankville, has drowned in a creek near Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was stationed in the army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kneeskern.

Mr. and Mrs. Kneeskern received a telephone call from the army base reporting that Dennis had been swimming with some army companions when he sank.

The body has not been recovered.

Military funeral services for 18 year old Dennis Roger Kneeskern of Frankville were held Monday afternoon, April 24, at the Frankville Community Church.

Dennis drowned April 16 near Ft. Benning, Ga.

Burial was in Frankville Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Reynolds conducted the services, and the Schutte Funeral Home of Postville had charge of arrangements.

Dennis was born Oct. 3, 1942 in Frankville, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kneeskern, Route 2, Postville.

He was educated in the Frankville public school and was graduated from Postville High School in 1960. He was a member of the Frankville Church.

He enlisted Jan. 3 in the Army Airborne.

He was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 2nd Training Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. After being home on leave from March 4 through March 14, he was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battle Group, 9th Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga., to continue his training. He died while stationed there.

Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Michael of Postville and E-4 Paul K., serving in the armed forces in Germany; two sisters, Joyce and Patsy at home.

Pallbearers for the services were Rodney Livingood, Edmond Bronson, Ronald Van Way, Alvin Behn, Grant Snitker and Roger Waters.

Mrs. Leslie Laterman was organist, and Paul Schutte of Postville was soloist.
