Leo R. Myers, age 88, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Red was born in Decorah, Iowa, May 1, 1920. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Christina (Ashby); 2 sons, Eugene of Waukon, IO, Rick (Terisita) of Huston, TX; 3 step-sons, Brian Gurgon of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Gurgon of Portage, IN, and Danny (Penny) Gurgon of Chesterton, IN. Red is leaving behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A veteran of World War II, Red served his country Honorably in the United States Navy. Red was a Seabee stationed in the Alutian Islands from 1941-1943. Leo was also a 67 year member of The Ironworkers Local #395 in Hammond, IN. He retired from Eichleay Corp. in 1980. Leo was a member of The Iowa City Lodge #4, Iowa A.F. & A. M., South Bend Schottish Rite, he was a very dedicated member of The Orak Shrine and member of Orak Motor Patrol and Potentate, Orak Temple, Michigan City, IN in 1983. Leo had requested that his remains be donated to Medical Science. There were no church services held and any Memorial donations cam be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, Chicago, IL 60707 in memory of Leo R. Myers.
