RITES HELD FOR THE REV. NESSET

Funeral services for the Rev. Alfred O. Nesset, 71, were held December 10, at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. The Rev. Alvon Nelson was in charge. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Rev. Nesset, a retired pastor, died at 4:00 p.m. December 8 at Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah. He had been in failing health for the past six years.

He was born September 19, 1887, in Glenwood township and educated in the county schools. He graduated from Luther College in 1913 and from the Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul in 1916.

He married Blanch Lawston at Wolford, North Dakota on January 5, 1921. She and three daughters, Mrs. Al (Ruth) Eggleston of Whittier, California; Mrs. Alden (Esther) Grinna of Frankville and Mrs. Dean (Elsie) Kittleson of Colesburg; also a sister, Mrs. Rupert Haugan of Middle River, Minnesota and eight grandchildren, survive.

Rev. Nesset served the Middle River, Minnesota parish from 1916-1919; the Leeds, North Dakota parish from 1919-1943, at Clermont from 1943-1952 and at St. Paul Park, Minnesota, from 1952-1956.

Rev. Nesset served in many capacities, among them as president of the Luther Alumni Association for one year, president of the Metizoshe Bible Camp near Bottineau, North Dakota, president of the North Dakota District Luther League, director of the choral union in North Dakota, on the board of directors of Concordia College at Moorehead, Minnesota.

He also served in different offices of Lake Region Circuit Pastor's Conference in North Dakota, and while at Clermont, he served in a three-member committee which composed a "Confirmant's Workbook".

He was a member of the Bible Camp Committee which published the Luther League Bible Camp Handbook, "With Christ at Bible Camp".
