Lavern Ralph Perry

Funeral services for Lavern Perry were held Saturday, April 14, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa. The Rev. Dave L. Lenth officiated. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia.

Lavern Ralph Perry, the son of Albert Roy Perry and Edna Ellen (Manderfield) Perry, was born on a farm near LeRoy, Minnesota. He passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in the Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 63 years, two months, and 21 days.

He was baptized on December 14, 1969, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. Lavern attended the local rural schools including the Blumhagen and Minert schools and also Postville Public School.

On October 2, 1962 he married Dorothy Marie Martin at Preston, Minnesota. To this union two children were born, Daniel and Joan. They were lifetime members of the Castalia community, where Lavern worked on farms in the area. He had also been employed at the Postville Creamery and presently worked at the Iowa Turkey Plant in Postville, where he had been since 1989.

Lavern enjoyed being with his family, his grandson, Marc, and his new granddaughter, Faith, who was born on Monday, April 9 of this year. He liked the outdoors and went fishing whenever he had the chance.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister who died in infancy, a sister, Ramona Limkemann and also her husband, Henry.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, a son, Daniel Perry, both of Castalia, a daughter, Joan and her husband, Marc Teff, of Spillville, Iowa, two grandchildren, Marc Joseph Teff and Faith Marie Teff, a brother Eugene Perry and his wife, Geneva, of West Union, Iowa and a sister, Marian and her husband David Limkemann, of Plainfield, Iowa.

Casketbearers were Michael, Justin and Dane Limkemann, Darrel Anderson, Bob Teff and Bill Martin.

Lavern Perry, 63, of Castalia died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 in the Gundersen-Lutheran Hospital at La Crosse, Wisc.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, with Rev. Dave Lenth officiating. Marlys Hager was organist and Sarah McGee was soloist.

Casket bearers were Michael Limkemann, Justin Limkemann, Dane Limkenmann, Darrel Anderson, Bob Teff and Bill Martin.

Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Castalia. Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville handled arrangements.
