Funeral services for Mrs. Lottie Pilgrim, 89, longtime Frankville resident who made her home at the Decorah Retirement Center in recent years, will be held Wednesday (today), 2:00 p.m. from the Frankville Community Church with the Rev. John P. McGee, Decorah, conducting the rites. Burial will be at the Frankville cemetery. She passed away Sunday, March 19, 1967 at the Smith Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
Lottie Pilgrim, daughter of James and Rachel Folsom Birdsell, was born near the Centennial Church, Frankville township, February 12, 1878. At the age of six she moved with her parents, to a farm west of Frankville.
She attended the country school, and Valder's College at Decorah; later teaching in the home school.
Lottie was married to Walter Pilgrim on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1898, and they made their home on a farm west of Frankville. After 47 years of active farming they retired to Frankville in 1946.
She joined the Frankville Presbyterian Church May 1913. She was superintendent of the Sunday School for many years, and charter member and president for several years of the ladies' organization, of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, after 66 years of marriage; her parents; and two brothers.
She is survived by her three children, Lawrence of Lake Hughes, California; Florence, Mrs. Arthur Ruen of near Decorah; and Mrs. Evelyn Thomas of Decorah; eight grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two nieces.
