Edwin John Erickson

Edwin John Erickson, son of Otto and Ellen (Melhus) Erickson died Jan. 14 at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, IA from complications of Alzheimers Disease.

He was born May 26, 1923 in Dubuque, IA. The family moved to Decorah, IA where he graduated from high school. After graduation he managed a Piggly Wiggly Store in Minneapolis, MN.

He married Betty Harvey August 7, 1943 at Minneapolis, MN. They had four children.

He and Betty soon moved to West Union, IA where he drove for Alstadt and Langlas Baking Company for 17 years. In 1960 they moved to Clear Lake, IA where he managed H & H Distributing for a few years. He then began working for the Clear Lake Bakery where he worked for 11 years before retiring in 1981 due to poor health.

Surviving are his wife, Betty of Clear Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara J. Hefty of Dunwoody, GA, and Mrs. Marsha E. Bezely of Clear Lake, IA and two sons David E. of Roseville, MN and Steven C. of Ovilla, TX; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were conducted Jan. 20, 1990 by Rev. Dean Hess at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake where he was a member.

Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
