Funeral Rites Held for Onsager

Funeral services were held April 9, for Martin Onsager, 55, who died April 5 at his home in Glenwood township as a result of a heart attack while working in the field. Services were held at 1 p.m. at the Fjelstul Funeral Home Decorah, and at 2 p.m. at the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church with the Rev P.F. Kjorlaug officiating and burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard, Olaf, Andrew, Peter, Gussie, and Edward Onsager, all brothers of Mr. Onsager, Mrs. George Westby, Vivian Onsager, Donna Lou Teslow and Romona Teslow were flower girls. He was born February 10, 1891 in Allamakee County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brede Onsager. He was educated in the rural schools of Allamakee County and was married April 7, 1915 to Olga M. Hagen at Waukon. His wife preceded him in death three weeks ago. He is survived by two sons, Marvin and Nathan, both at home. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; Bernard, Andrew, Gussie, Edward, and Peter, all of Allamakee County; Olaf of Decorah; Joe, Gadsden, Ala.; Lars, Minneapolis; Mrs. Fred (Helga) Becker, and Mrs. Lionel (Glenna) Moen, both of Allamakee County and Mrs. Ole (Alma) Gronlie of Northwood, ND.......Decorah Journal
