Jean Sinning

Funeral services for Jean Sinning of Lenox, formerly of Corning, were Thursday, June 14, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Corning. She died Monday, June 11, 2007 at Vintage Park Assisted Living Center, Lenox. The Rev. Ken Rummer officiated. Burial was at Frankville Cemetery, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2007. Pearson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Brandt was born April 17, 1923, in Frankville, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Snitker) Brandt. She married Wilton H. Sinning on June 14, 1944, at Frankville. He died Feb. 16, 2003. She attended Frankville School through the eighth grade and graduated from Decorah High School, earning her A. A. degree from Luther College. She began her teaching career in Alexander and taught in Corning and Prescott schools until her retirement in 1980.

She was the ideal minister's wife, participating in choirs, Sunday schools and other church organizations. She was interested in music, directing and singing in church and community choirs. She was active in community organizations including the Departmental Club, Women's Club, P.E.O., and Rotary Ann. She received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1999. Jean and her husband Bill spent much of their retirement years serving as volunteers in mission through the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. in Sitka, Ala., Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Stoney Point, N.Y., and Homestead, FL. They enjoyed traveling to Germany, Russia, Spain and throughout the U. S.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane (David) Bradley of Danville, Calif., and Judy (Michael) Storin of Aurora, Colo.; a son, David Sinning and Jenny Boswell of Tuttle, Okla.; her grandchildren: Scott and Jill Bradley of Danville, Calif., Joel, Carrie and Storin of Aurora, Colo., and Kellen Sinning of Boulder, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Alice Bulman and Marion Laterman; her son, Mark; and her loving husband of 59 years, Bill.
