Funeral services for Rodney Anderson were held Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Priscilla Miene was the organist with special music by Kenneth Timmerman. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery at Castalia, Iowa.

Rodney Earl Anderson, the son of Earl Anderson and Marie (Harvey) Anderson, was born December 8, 1929, on the family farm in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, west of Castalia, Iowa. He passed away Friday, March 30, 2001, in Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 71 years, three months, and 12 days.

He attended the Castalia School and was graduated from Postville High School in 1947. Rodney entered the US Army in 1951. On August 31, 1964 he was married to Lucille Jones at Flint, Michigan. Rodney worked for Albright Oil Company in Castalia, for many years. He had his own milk route and had also driven the school bus for Burr Cook at the Postville Schools.

Rodney's family was important to him, and he enjoyed having them come to visit. He also appreciated the many friends he had made over the years. As a youth, Rodney had played football and baseball. He was a member of the Castalia Cubs team that played an 18 inning game against the Dubuque White Sox on September 8, 1947. He continued his interest in sports by watching the games on television, and he continued to play on area baseball teams. Rodney also enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a step granddaughter, Kendra Wickham.

Surviving is his wife, Lucille, two step children, Frank Wickham and his wife, Phyllis, of New Hampton, and Sharon and her husband, Grant Snitker, of Waukon; six grandchildren, Grant Snitker, Jr. and wife, Paula, Brian Snitker and wife, Karen, Frank Wickham, Jr. and wife, Joanne, Chad Wickham and wife, Laura, Tamara Wickham, and Gloria and husband, Jerry Boyd; eight great grandchildren, Brooke Ameling, Bethany Wickham, Mariah Wickham, Dakota Wickham, Carter Wickham, Jerry Boyd, Jessica Boyd, and Trevor Snitker; two brothers, Jerry Anderson and wife, Carol, of Castalia, and William Anderson and wife, Linda, of Postville and many nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers were Daryl Helgerson, Chad Wickham, Frank Wickham, Jr., Brian Snitker, Grant Snitker, Jr., and Milton Schutte.

CASTALIA -- Rodney Anderson, 71, Castalia, died Friday, March 30, 2001 in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 3 at 1:30

Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Castalia, with Daryl Helgerson, Chad Wickham, Frank Wickham Jr., Brian Snitker, Grant Snitker Jr. and Milton Schutte as casket bearers.
