Mabel Reckward

Services were held Monday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Methodist Church, Castalia for Mrs. Mabel G. Reckward, who died January 18 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Curtis Webster officiated.

Mabel Gladys Reckward, the daughter of Delbert and Lottie Moore Harvey was born March 9, 1899 at Castalia. She lived in that vicinity all her life.

On August 22, 1917 she was united in marriage with Herman Reckward. They farmed until about five years ago when they retired and moved to Castalia.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and one brother.

She is survived by her three children: Wilber of Postville, Virgil of Castalia and Mrs. Charlotte Bigler of Fowler, Colorado; 11 grandchildren: Roger Bigler, LaJaurta, Colorado; Gloria Bigler and Cheri Bigler, Fowler, Colorado; Dennis Bigler, Ft. Morgan, Colorado; Andy Bigler of California; Charles Bigler, Garland, Texas; James and Jerry Reckward, Decorah; Mrs. Jerry Monroe and Susy and Ginny Reckward, Castalia and nine great grandchildren.

Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.
