Viola May Trautman

Viola Mae (Allen) Trautman, daughter of Richard Ray and May (Clark) Allen, was born October 6, 1914 at Castalia, Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County. She was baptized in November of 1937 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo. Viola graduated from Normal Training School in Postville.

On June 1, 1937, Viola was united in marriage to James Lester Trautman at the Trautman Family Farm Home in Waterloo. To this union were born 4 children. The years they lived in Postville, Lester had a portable feed grinding business and when they lived in West Union he had a portable corn sheller business and trucking business and Viola did the bookkeeping for these businesses. In about 1962 they moved to Waterloo for a few years and Lester worked for the Waterloo Park Dept. Viola's activities and memberships included the First Baptist Church, Elgin; Evangelical United Brethren in Castalia and Postville; Tabitha Ladies; Bald River Saddle Club; Association for Retarded Children; National Alzheimer Group and South Side Birthday Club.

Viola was preceded in death by 1 son, Roger, in infancy; her parents; 1 sister, Irma Roulson and 2 brothers, Richard and Robert Allen.

Viola is survived by her husband, Lester, 2 sons, Kenneth of Waterloo and Robert and wife, Connie, of Austin, TX; 1 daughter, Beverly and husband, Wallace Heinrich of Britt, MN; 7 grandchildren, Jerald, Shelley, Patricia Heinrich, Joan Heinrich Bradley, Trent, Brendon and Christina Trautman and 4 great grandchildren, Christopher Heinrich, Wesley and Wyatt Bradley and Angelica Heinrich Solis.

The pallbearers were Allen, Calvin and LeRoy Roulson, Douglas and Randall and Ray Allen.

Interment was in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa. Arrangements by Burnham-Wood Funeral home, West Union, Iowa.
