Chester Green

Funeral services for Chester R. Green were held Tuesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah.

Chester Raymond Green, son of Edward Warren and Margaret (Bollman) Green, was born April 7, 1901 in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He died Saturday, March 25, 1989 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, IA.

He received his education in a rural school in Bloomfield Township and also the Valders Normal School at Decorah.

On June 11, 1924 he married Edna M. Roney at Decorah. The couple had 4 children. Chester and Edna farmed in Bloomfield Township most of their married life. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Edna, December 2, 1987, his parents, one son, Roger, two grandchildren, Ann Marie Green and John Mark Dibble, one great-grandson, Matthew James Werger, one brother, Ralph and two sisters, Bernice McLain and Irene Shepperd.

Surviving is a son, Glen and his wife Joan of Aplington, IA, 2 daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ardis) Dibble, Postville and Mrs. Dean (Marilyn) Werger, Garnavillo; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a brother Kenneth Green, Castalia.

Casket bearers were Leon and Jay Dibble; Alan, Gary and Kay Werger; Wayne, Peter, Michael and Paul Green.
