Elsie Tietz

Funeral services for Elsie Tietz were held Monday, June 9, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Elsie Wilhelmina Tietz, daughter of John and Mary (Klinkenberg) Martins, was born November 12, 1899 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died June 6 in Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.

She was baptized March 27, 1900 and confirmed April 5, 1914 and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Elsie attended the rural schools of Clayton County.

On September 12, 1928 she was married to Walter Tietz at Luana, Iowa. The couple had one son. They farmed in the Luana and Frankville areas. In 1962 they moved to their present home in Frankville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leske and John Martins, and two sisters, Mary (Mrs. William Radloff) and Anna (Mrs. Gus Lenth).

Surviving are her husband, Walter, a son, Leonard and his wife, Lavonne, of Decorah, two grandchildren, Galen of Decorah and Randy of St. Louis, MO, one brother, Gerwin Martins of Postville and a sister, Effie (Mrs. Roy Saacke) of Farmersburg.

Casket bearers were Lloyd Lenth, Robert Saacke, Melvin Radloff and Donald, Delbert, and Bernald Martins.
