STREET, HAWKS, GRISWOLD

Granville O. Street, 75, a former Mabel businessman, died Tuesday morning, December 30, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, where he had been a patient since Saturday, December 27, following a heart attack.

He was born July 7, 1900, in Hesper Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of Oscar and Minnie White Street. He attended the Hesper public school and Mabel high school.

On October 26, 1921, he married Avis Hawks. They spent all their life on a farm in Hesper Township. He was a former Hesper Township assessor. From 1952 until 1962, he was in partnership with Floyd Griswold in operating a tractor and implement repair shop in Mabel. After selling his interest in the business, he operated a repair shop at his farm. He was a life long member of the Hesper Friends Church, and a trustee of the Hesper Public Cemetery Association.

Survivors are his wife; one son, John, Merrillville, Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Neva) Hain, Mrs. Vernon (Ruth) Weinmann, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Tracy, all of Rochester, Minnesota, Mrs. Fred (Arlene) Boyyum, Lanesboro Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guilford, Hesper, Iowa, Merrill, Golden, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Grace) Byers, Rochester, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, two brothers, one grandchild and his parents.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hesper Friends Church. Pastor Claire Street officiated. Burial was in the Hesper Public Cemetery. The Mingus funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
