BOYD ROLAND GILSON of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in Little Rock. He was born in Decor, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1936. He was 70 years old. He spent 20 years in the Air Force, and another 20 years as the Butcher at the Little Rock Air Force Base. Mr. Gilson was also a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Sherwood.
He is survived by his loving wife, Grace P. Jones Gilson of North Little Rock; two sons, James D. Gilson and wife Laura of North Little Rock, John Gilson of Texas; and two daughters, Esther Ashworth and husband Ben of Tennessee, and Elizabeth Hicks of Jacksonville; three grandsons, Brandon Ashworth, Chris Hicks and David Gilson; and a granddaughter, Allison Hicks; eight brothers, including Phillip Gilson of Jacksonville; and four sisters. He also leaves behind numerous family members and special friends.

NOTE: Boyd was the son of William Lyman GILSON, Sr. and Esther Nell REKWARD, and the grandson of William Hugh GILSON, Jr. and Hattie Lucile BENDER, and Lewis John REKWARD (REQUARDT) and Zo Mae RUSSELL. He was my uncle.
