William Albright

Funeral services were held at the E. U. B. Church in Castalia for William Albright, 88, who died at the Murray Nursing Home in Cresco on October 12. The rites were in charge of Rev. H. C. Snow. Burial was at Pleasant View cemetery.

William Albright, son of Martin Albright and Mariah Garvin, was born in Quebec, Canada on June 15, 1863. At the age of two years he moved to this country to Winneshiek county.

He attended the rural schools of the county. On September 3, 1890 he married Mary Allen. His wife preceded him in death on August 25, 1949.

Mr. Albright was a buttermaker at the Red Oak Creamery near Decorah for three years and since that time has been farming near Castalia. He passed away of the infirmities of old age at the Murray Nursing Home in Cresco on October 12, 1951, at the age of 88 years. He suffered a broken hip several weeks ago.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Mary Helmer of Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Lavina Allen of Ossian, Mrs. Carrie Shaffer (sic) of Fayette; one brother, Elzia of Fayette. One brother, Charles, preceded him in death.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Carrie Shaffer (sic) and Elzia Albright of Fayette, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Birdsell of Eldora, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Birdsell and Mr. and Mrs. William Birdsell of Oelwein, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cannon and Leonard Damon of Cresco, Mrs. Georgie Thompson of Dade City, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Loftsgard of Fredericksburg, Texas.
