John H. Warburton was born near Manchester, Eng., March 6, 1853, and came to America with his parents, two older brothers and two sisters two years later. His father, a Methodist minister, settled on a farm near Kendallville where John grew to manhood.

He was married to Miss Jeanie Clink of Kendallville, Jan. 16, 1883, and continued to live on the old homestead where their three chrildren were born. They moved to a farm near Riceville in 1892 and lived there until the autumn of 1920 when they moved into Riceville where they lived until his death.

He is survived by his widow and three children: Ray, John and Mabel (Mrs. Oliver White), all of Riceville; thirteen grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Greenhalgh, who makes her home with the family; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Warburton, Jack as he was familiarly known, was a man of sterling qualities, a loving unselfish husband and father, a true friend and neighbor, quiet and unassuming but always ready and willing to assist those who were in need. He dearly loved all children and especially enjoyed associating with his grandchildren.

Although in failing health for some time he had been about the house until Friday evening when he was taken gravely ill. He passed away Sunday morning, Mar. 1, 1936.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Bodenham conducting the services assisted by the Rev. F. M Garrett, pastor of the Riceville Methodist church. Burial was in the Kendallville-Eddy cemetery in the family lot where his father, mother and grandfather are buried.

"I shall go gently, never fear-give little warning
Say not good-night, but in some happier sphere
Bid you good morning."

Relatives and friends from away who came to attend the services were: Mrs. W. R. Kendall, Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Warburton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hemphill of Millford, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Will Bean of Arnolds Park; F. C.
