Joe Schultz

Joe Schultz, son of Henry and Alvina (Warnholtz) Schultz, was born March 29, 1895 in Fayette County, Iowa. He passed away September 5, 1983 at the Asse Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa.

He received his education in the area rural schools and served in the Army during WW I.

On February 24, 1921 he was married to Mae Schellhamer at West Union, Iowa. To this union three children were born. They lived in the Castalia area until 1942 when they moved to Yuma, Arizona and spent the summer months at their home in Decorah.

Joe had been a farmer in the Castalia area and then operated a farm implement business in Castalia.
While they were living in Yuma, AZ and Decorah, he was employed as an auto mechanic and a carpenter. For the past year he had been a resident to the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

Surviving are a son, Westley Schultz of Farmington Hills, MI, two daughters, Mrs. Verne (Ardith) Koenig of Decorah and Mrs. Jess (Lorna) Mooneyham of Yuma, Az, twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a brother Henry Schultz of Castalia, and two sisters, Mabel Schmidt of Postville and Mrs Dean (Elsie) Kneeskern of Preston, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died April 4, 1976, a grandson, Larry Schultz, and three brothers, Roy Elmer, and George.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Castalia and the WW I Barracks at Decorah.

Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa
