Ida Noecker

Funeral services for Ida Noecker of Decorah will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Locust with Rev. John Mayer officiating.

Interment will be in Hesper Public Cemetery, Hesper.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and also after 10 a.m. at the church on Thursday.

Ida, 83, died Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah following complications of Alzheimers disease.

She is survived by three daughters: Margo Walsh and Suzanne Matter, both of Decorah, and Bettie Fox of Oelwein; two sons: Michael and Billie, both of Decorah; two brothers: Clyde Quandahl of Decorah and Howard Quandahl of Stoughton, WI.

Ida Marie Noecker
Born January 14, 1919 Died December 29, 2002

Ida Marie (Quandahl) Noecker was born January 14, 1919 at her grandfather’s home on the middle Hesper Road, rural Decorah, IA. She attended rural school through eighth grade. Ida was confirmed at the Decorah Lutheran Church. She met her husband Milo in 1941. They were wed after a short courtship, on November 1, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. Ida and Milo lived in several places before settling on a farm they bought in 1948 where they raised their family. Milo died on October 15, 1990. Ida moved to an apartment in Decorah, IA in September 1998. She lived independently until she moved to the Aase Haugen Home in June 2002. In October 2002, she moved to the Barthell Eastern Star Home where she passed away, Sunday, December 29, 2002 at the age of 83.
She was an active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and the St. John’s WELCA. Her other enjoyments were playing cards as a volunteer at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility, dancing at Matter’s Ballroom and gardening.
Ida’s survivors include her three daughters: Margo Walsh & her husband Keith and Suzanne Matter & her husband John, both of Decorah IA. and Bettie Fox & husband Les, Oelwein, IA. Two sons: Michael Noecker and Billie Noecker, both of Decorah, IA. Six grandchildren: Erica Worrell and husband Robb, Dakota, MN.; Jennifer Matter & husband Ed Lin, Oakland CA; Kerri Freidhof, Cedar Rapids, IA; Billy, Rachel, and Sarah Noecker, Waukon, IA. Two great grandchildren: Ryan and Dylan Worrell, Two step-great grandchildren: Nick and Miranda Worrell. Two brothers: Clyde Quandahl and wife Alverta, Decorah, IA. and Howard Quandahl and wife Arlene, Stoughton, WI. Sister-in-law: Ethel Quandahl, Decorah, IA. Three sisters-in-law: Genevieve Harvey, Hesper, IA., Charlotte Erickson, Decorah, IA. and Ann Noecker, Allegan, MI.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milo Noecker on October 15, 1990; one brother Allen Quandahl; and two sisters Lena Harvey and Lillie Foltz.
