HYMENEAL.
On Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 29th, at four o’clock, at the home of the bride’s parents on Washington street, Miss Kathinka B. Engen, older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Engen, and Mr. T. Otto Johnson were united in marriage. The wedding service was read by Rev. O. E. Schmidt in the presence of a company of about fifty relatives and friends. The bride was attended by her sister Agnes, and the groom by Joseph Johnson of Joyce, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson departed on the 8:15 train for Minneapolis and after a few days will proceed to Island, Minn., where their home will be.
The acquaintance which resulted in this union was formed while the bride and groom were students at Valder college. Since completing his course here Mr. Johnson has been manager for the Farmers’ Elevator company at Island. The bride is held in high esteem by many friends and acquaintances, who honor her for qualities of mind and heart that bespeak worth and womanly character. An incident of the wedding day that was unusual occurred at six o’clock in the morning when a dozen intimate friends, through the assistance of Mrs. Engen, gained entrance to the home and serenaded the bride to be with the bridal chorus from “The Rose Maiden.” It was indeed a happy launching of what they hope may be a long and successful married life.
Guests from out of town who were present at the wedding were Mr. J. F. Johnson, father of the groom, Mrs. Ella Vold of Northwood, Mrs. A. T. Helgeson of Candon, S. D., and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Olson of Minneapolis.
