On the 3d there was a pleasant gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Camp. This was the 36th anniversary of the marriage of Mrs. Camp’s father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Haines. As the bride and groom are getting older and more particular than they were thirty-six years ago, the wedding present was in the shape of a sofa long enough for two to sit upon side by side. This gathering had its notable features, one of them being the fact that Mrs. Haines is one of the oldest persons in Winnesheik Co. who was born in what is now the State of Iowa— she having been born near Muscatine about 57 years ago. I have an impression that Mr. Haines was the young man who killed the bear without the help of Betsey, on the prairie near where T. O. Goldburg lives, when Looking Glass prairie was bounded on the west by the Rocky Mountains.
