A Jolly Wedding at Locust. — Locust has just experienced another interesting social event. It was the wedding of John Alexander Kern, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kern, and Evaline, youngest daughter of Mrs. Anna Ruffridge, which took place at the German Lutheran church, on Wednesday, July 7th. The church was filled with interested friends of the parties, and at 4:20 p. m. the bridal party marched down the aisle to the strains of the wedding march, played by Miss Emma Grindeland. They were met at the altar by Rev. Seehuus who, after the choir had sung a hymn, delivered a powerful sermon suitable to the occasion, after which he tied the nuptial knot. At the conclusion of the ceremony the bridal couple headed, the procession to the bride's home, where a reception took place. Congratulations were very numerous, and a dinner ensued of the most sumptuous character. After the first table Rev. Seehuus made a short speech of congratulation which will be long remembered by all who heard it. The bride’s dress was of brocaded satin trimmed with passamentarie. The groom was neatly dressed in black. The bridesmaids were Miss Tillie Severson, of Locust, and Miss Mabel Severson, of Decorah. The ushers were Willie Kern and Henry Ruffridge. There were upwards of three hundred guests present, many of them coming from a distance. The evening was spent in dancing to music furnished by the Tyler orchestra, and not until morning came were the participants willing to disperse. May the newly wedded couple live long and happily is the wish of ONE WHO WAS THERE.
