Ridgeway has been abounding in surprises the last week, The 17th of May being the 50th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. D. Dorn, their many friends concluded that such an event was of too rare an occasion to pass by unobserved. Consequently the whole town was invited to meet at the Libby House at 8:30 p. m. Then headed by the guitar serenaders and the Ridgeway band about seventy-five of the citizens of Ridgeway broke in upon Mr. and Mrs. Dorn’s peaceful home and made things merry for a few hours. Mr. Wheeler, in behalf of the town, presented them with a very beautiful sofa and chair. Then while some proceeded to look after the wants of the inner man, others kept things lively by songs, &c. Strawberries, cake and coffee were served and everybody wished that such events would come more often and that Grandpa and Grandma Dorn may live long to enjoy all the happiness, comfort and peace that this world is capable of imparting. Mr. and Mrs. Dorn have spent thirty of the fifty years as citizens of Ridgeway so are well known in our community. They expect all their children and grandchildren to come home for a family reunion this summer, but it being in May on account of the schools it was impossible to have them here for the 17th.
