Ordained to the Ministry.
Jacob Aall Otteson Stub was ordained a clergyman at the First Norwegian Ev. Lutheran church in this city last Sunday evening, Mr. Stub was a graduate of Luther College, class of ’98, and became at once a theological student at Hamline, Minn., graduating in June last. Ordination services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Otteson, assisted by Revs. Seehuus, Torreson, Askevold and Ringeon; and the young man goes into work at once as assistant to Rev. Halvorsen, president of the Wisconsin synod. Mr. Stub Is the eldest son of Prof H. G. Stub, and grandson of Rev. J. A. Otteson, the veteran Lutheran clergyman now living in this city, and of Rev. Stub, so long the beloved pastor of the Big Canoe church. In the course of the ordination service it was stated by his grandfather that forty-five progenitors of the candidate on his mother’s side were in the ministry, and possibly on his father’s side there were as many others. We are told that he possesses not a few of the qualities which have made his father an acceptable pulpit orator.
