Original Cow Pox Inoculation Certificate translated from Norwegian

This certificate, that is issued without payment, must be presented to the person's parish priest within 6 weeks of receipt.
Marthin Hansen, Eeg, born at Gronland and living at Enerhougen, 3/4 years old, is by me the undersigned, year 1823 the 18th August inoculated with cowpox. With careful examination between the 7th and 9th day after the inoculation I have found all the signs, that show that it has been real cowpox, they were namely whole and uninjured, filled with clear fluid, the center depressed, and encircled with a red circle. Marthin Hansen Eeg has properly undergone the real cowpox, that protects him from smallpox in the future, which therefore, in respect and conscience, witnessed at Gronland the 27th August years 1823.
