A Chronology of Railroad Events at Calmar

1864 – First railroad land purchased at Calmar
1866 – Line through Calmar from McGregor to Cresco completed
1869 – Lines from Calmar to Nora Springs, and Conover to Decorah completed
1880 – Line from Jackson Junction to Cedar Rapids completed
1911 – 10 stall round house built
1912 – Fare between Calmar and Decorah raised from 25¢ to 26¢
1915 – Current depot building constructed
1918 – Round house demolished in May 9th tornado
1919 – New round house completed
1927 – The night passenger trains acquire the Sioux name
1952 – Last run of the Marquette & Minnesota Marquette, day trains
1953 – Alterations made in depot to convert one waiting room to freight room
1954 – Round house reduced from ten stalls to two
1960 – Passenger train, the Sioux, discontinued
1974 – Depot canopy removed
