PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941
Isaac Nelson came from Indiana in 1853, riding horseback almost all the way. He settled on a farm east of the village, but sold out and moved to Hesper, where he was engaged as engineer at the Tabor mill for 20 years. He was married to Vellena Pike, sister of Jonathan Pike, in Indiana. They were the parents of five children: Charley, Will, Emma, Mary Cooley and Susie White.
