PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

An early teacher of parochial schools in Hesper township was Burre Olson, born in Hotravlen, Norway, January 24, 1811. He was united in marriage to Guri Nyselhvold. They settled in Hesper township in the early 50's, but in 1859 they went to Jackson, Minn., where they lived until 1862 when they returned to Hesper and where he engaged in teaching religious school for twenty-eight years. For his services rendered he received for a time a pension from the government of Norway. He died September 28, 1904 having attained the ripe old age of 93 years.
