PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

One of the early Norwegian pioneers to settle in Hesper township was C. L. Christiansen Lien. He was born in Hollingdahl, Nowway, in 1841 and came to the United States with his parents in 1852. They settled in Dane county, Wis., then came to Hesper township where they lived all their lives. He bought 295 acres of land, 50 acres of timber and 70 acres of land in Canoe and the balance in Hesper township. He filled various offices of trust, and also served five years as Justice of Peace of the village of Hesper. In the fall of 1869 he married Miss Carrie Larsen, and to them were born five children: Mary, Eliza, Christiana, Oliver, and Helena.
